General Dynamics Engineering and Technology Council

I led an interdisciplinary team to develop a corporate-wide challenge promoting collaboration internationally across all General Dynamics businesses, including aerospace, shipbuilding, and mission systems. An interesting complexity to facilitating team discussions stemmed from having members that represented the different business units, which are spread across the United States and Switzerland.

Junkyard Wars Competition

I founded and manage the design and implementation of an annual company-wide “Junkyard Wars” competition, which provides over 16,000 employees with an opportunity to develop creative problem-solving skills. Since 2010, this event has invited teams of General Dynamics Electric Boat employees to design and construct vehicles for competition on uniquely designed courses. As creator, I am responsible for managing the design, construction, and implementation of each challenge and associated course components, as well as project cost, schedule, and team organization. To commemorate each competition, I design trading cards that are distributed to each team and feature a photo of the vehicle and names of team members.

Images from the 2016 Junkyard Wars competition are featured on the Electric Boat engineering and design careers website to entice potential applicants to learn more about employment opportunities.
